36 Bay Street, Tweed Heads

The ambitious $900 million redevelopment of Tweed Shopping Mall has received concept approval, setting the stage for a significant transformation of the site into a mixed-use precinct.&nbsp;

The approved masterplan encompasses a vast 178,601 sqm area at <a href="/new-apartments/36-bay-street-tweed-heads">36 Bay Street</a> and 16-32 Wharf Street in <a href="/developments/tweed-heads-nsw-2485">Tweed Heads</a>,&nbsp;just south of the NSW-Queensland border.

The redevelopment will introduce 13 new buildings, each with a maximum height of 15 levels, including nearly 1,400 residential units comprising townhouses and apartments.&nbsp;

The project will also feature extensive commercial, retail, and recreational facilities, ensuring a diverse and vibrant environment for both residents and visitors.

Central to the master plan is the integration of open spaces and public domains, with 24,665 sqm dedicated to green areas and 4,156 sqm to landscaping, which will enhance the aesthetic appeal and promote sustainability within the precinct.&nbsp;

Over 45,000 sqm of retail space will be anchored by three supermarkets and a fresh food market, catering to everyday shopping needs while promoting a healthy lifestyle.&nbsp;

Additionally, a 52-key hotel will be built on the site, covering 4,537 sqm, further boosting local tourism and supporting the economy.

The project also includes more than 14,000 sqm of office space, a medical centre, a cinema complex, a gym, a child care centre with a capacity of 200 children, and a wellness centre.&nbsp;

The development is designed to integrate seamlessly with the existing road network, introducing a new street and pedestrian network to facilitate smooth traffic flow and enhance accessibility.
